Youth Aquatic Program Schedule

"Striving for Excellence"

The Learn-to-Swim Program is our most popular program! The Aquatic Staff at the Patricia G. Mitchell Swim Stadium is eager to start your little ones on their aquatic journey. Teaching them how to swim and be safe around the water is of utmost importance, for swimming is a life-saving skill and a vital tool to preventing drowning- the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related deaths for children ages 1-14. Plus, it makes kids healthier and more confident, builds a foundation for water sports and activities, and is so much fun!

Group Swim Lessons are held twice a week, for four weeks, on Mondays & Wednesdays, or Tuesdays & Thursdays between the hours of 3:00 PM- 7:00 PM, and each class is approximately 40 minutes long. Semi-Private & Private Swim Lessons are held once a week, for four weeks, on Fridays between 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Saturdays or Sundays between 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM, and each class is approximately 40 minutes long. 

In accordance with LA County Department of Public Health guidelines, the swim instructor will be out of the water during lessons. For ages 2-12, we are requiring an adult 18+ to be in the water with the child (same adult for duration of session in order to lesson exposure). All lessons take place in the shallow end, so no experience required for accompanying adult. In addition to being a fun and bonding experience, the SWIM PALS program is a great way for adults to learn how to swim too!

South Gate Aquatics Club - Partner Organization

The South Gate Aquatics Club is the most advanced aquatics program at the Patricia G. Mitchell Swim Stadium for youth, where swim lesson participants can build upon what they have learned in previous programs. Members of SGAC also learn valuable life skills such as time management, good sportsmanship, goal setting and good nutrition, all while improving their abilities in the water.
