Latino Policymakers Strengthen Financial Leadership Skills

Mayor and Vice Mayor Joined Latino Policymakers in Phoenix for 

NALEO National Policy Institute on Public Finance Management and Bonds

Two-day convening brought Latino leaders together to deepen their knowledge and leadership capacity around fiscal issues

South Gate, CA – Mayor Bernal and Vice Mayor Diaz joined the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund, municipal policymakers and leaders in finance from throughout the country for the NALEO National Policy Institute on Public Finance Management and Bonds in Phoenix from December 6-7, 2019.

The convening provided Latino policymakers with the opportunity to enhanced their understanding of municipal budgets, revenue rousces, financial forecasting and municipal bonds. 

During the Institute, the Mayor and Vice Mayor networked with other Latino leaders, to strengthen their financial leadership skills and exchanged ideas on effective fiscal decisions that benefit communities in ways that go beyond the life of political terms. Topics discussed during the convening included:

  • Public Officials as Fudiciaries;
  • Budget and Local Government Revenue Sources;
  • Financial Forecasting; and
  • Municipal Bonds.
