Coronavirus Parking Enforcement

The South Gate Police Department along with the Staff from other City Departments have been working tirelessly to address the national Coronavirus crisis while providing the best service possible to the residents and business partners in South Gate. We understand that the closures of schools, limitations on in-dining at restaurant establishments, work at home programs, and the recommendations to quarantine and limit unnecessary travel have all impacted our residents in more ways than one. Because of the changing climate and in the interest of cooperation, the South Gate Police Department will suspend all parking enforcement citations for residential street sweet sweeping and trash pick-up effective immediately through Tuesday, March 31st. Please be mindful, that street sweeping and trash pick-up service will continue and that parked vehicles during pick up hours may affect the ability of these services to be carried out. All other traffic and parking enforcement will take place outside of the street sweeping and trash pick-up areas. We appreciate cooperation from everyone at this time.

Update 3/26/20:

Starting on Thursday, March 26, 2020, the South Gate Police Department will suspend enforcement of 72 hour parking violations on residential streets. The South Gate Police Department also suspended enforcement for street sweeping and trash pick up violations earlier this month. Both of these changes will stay in effect until further notice. Other parking violations, with the exception of the ones mentioned above, will remain in effect and will still be enforced. We are facing new challenges in our lives and the South Gate Police Department will continue to examine and modify our operations when it best serves the needs of our community during these difficult times. We ask that you not abuse these changes and remain courteous and respectful to the needs of your neighbors and fellow residents during this time. Thank you.
