Bulky Item Pickup and Drop off

Waste Management provides residential customers one FREE bulky item pick-up per month on their scheduled service day. Up to 10 items can be picked-up each time. Bulky items include: chairs, sofas, appliances, bed frames, mattresses, lawn furniture, etc. Waste Management will not collect any of the following items: bed-frame parts, futons, couch beds, mattress pads and toppers, water beds, air mattresses, items with bed bugs, and excessively wet, damaged or soiled items.

How to Schedule a Bulky Item Pick Up

Step 1: Call Waste Management Customer Service at (800) 774-0222 to schedule a bulky item pick-up and confirm the bulky-item collection date.

Step 2: Place items on the sidewalk/parkway of your property on the collection date.

Multi-Family Dwelling and Businesses

Bulky item pick-ups for multi-family dwellings, properties with five (5) units or more, and businesses come at a cost. To schedule a bulky item pick-up or for information regarding pricing, contact Waste Management Customer Service at (800) 774-0222.

Bulky Item Drop Off

South Gate residents can drop off bulky items at the Waste Management Transfer Station located at 4489 Ardine St, South Gate, CA 90280. Bulky items must be dropped off Monday – Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Electronic waste, white goods, tires, and household hazardous waste are not accepted. Property managers of multi-family properties may also use this service, but the frequency and quantity of items per drop off are determined by the number of units at each address.

  • Properties with 5 – 25 Dwelling Units – 5 drop off’s per year with a maximum of 10 items per drop off
  • Properties with 26 – 100 Dwelling Units – 10 drop off’s per year with a maximum of 10 items per drop off
  • Properties with more than 100 Dwelling Units – 15 drop off’s per year with a maximum of 10 items per drop off

 

Valid proof of South Gate residency is required to drop off items at the Waste Management Transfer Station.
