Special Weapons & Tactics Team (SWAT)

The South Gate Police Department’s SWAT Team offers an immediate response to threats or perceived threats to the public’s safety through rout or riot. Members of the SWAT Team are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and assist other units in the service of arrest and search warrants. South Gate team members complete over 4,000 hours of special training each year, exceeding the requirements of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Training. All officers who are a part of the team also complete the basic SWAT Academy.
